About KK:

Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, is a renowned Indian playback singer. Born on August 23, 1968, in Kerala, India, KK began his career as a singer in 1994 with the song “College Days” from the Malayalam movie “Gardish.” He gained popularity with his Hindi playback singing in the early 2000s.

KK has lent his voice to many hit Bollywood songs such as “Tadap Tadap” from “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,” “Yaaron” from “Rockford,” “Khuda Jaane” from “Bachna Ae Haseeno,” “Zara Sa” from “Jannat,” and “Awarapan Banjarapan” from “Jism.” He has won numerous awards for his contributions to the Indian music industry, including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

In addition to Hindi and Malayalam, KK has also sung in various other Indian languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Bengali. His soulful and melodious voice has made him a favorite among music lovers in India and abroad.

Apart from his playback singing, KK has also acted in a few movies and television shows. He was a judge on the singing reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007” and has also been a mentor on other music-based reality shows.

KK’s music has touched the hearts of millions of people around the world, and he continues to be a prominent voice in the Indian music industry.

On 31 May 2022, KK performed a concert at a college festival at Nazrul Mancha in South Kolkata. After the concert, he returned to his hotel in Esplanade. KK complained of feeling unwell on the way back to his hotel, where he experienced cardiac arrest. He collapsed, and efforts to revive him at the hotel were unsuccessful. KK was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at about 10:30 pm, where he was declared dead. He was 53 years old
